Brass Dreams Come True
Concert to feature 3 Tullis Russell Bands Saturday 22nd Oct will see a unique concert in the history of the Tullis Russell Band as all three bands which come under the Tullis banner will perform on the same stage. The concert entitled “Brass Dreams Come True” is part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival which this year has a theme of Sleep, Dreams and Memories. The Tullis Russell Youth Band will start the evening and will be playing some of the items they will perform at the Scottish Youth Championships in November in Perth. Next up will be the Tullis Russell Intermediate Band and they will perform music from around the world and will include a first performance in Scotland of Celebration by Andy Norman. The concert will close with the Tullis Russell Mills Band playing a programme of music based on the festival theme of Sleep, Dreams and Memories.
The night will give the Tullis Russell Band organisation the opportunity to show family, friends and members of the public the results of a lot of hard work over the last 14 months, which has seen the idea of a three band strategy turn into a reality. It is hoped that with the progress that is being made at the Intermediate Band that they can enter the fourth section and take part in the Scottish Championships which will be held on the Tullis Russell Bands doorstep of Glenrothes in March 2012. Band Chairman Alan Douglas commented that “this concert really is a mile stone for the Tullis Russell Band, it’s very easy to put a plan on paper but actually making it happen is a lot harder and at Tullis we have been lucky to have a very dedicated team of tutors who have given up countless hours of their own time and without payment to bring the first stage of the three band strategy a very successful conclusion.”
Saturday’s concert is already sold out and is the first of four concerts that the Tullis Russell Mills Band will be giving between now and December, with both the youth band Intermediate band also booked to give 2 local concerts before the end of the year.
